In the Box
The Xiros Mikro freeze dryer itself, the standard 5-shelf heated stainless tray stack with 5 stainless steel trays, and the mains lead. No vacuum pump is included, so you'll need to add an oil free scroll pump separately. This ships as a big crate, but there is a small parts bag with tray clips and fittings inside that is easy to miss and bin along with the packaging, so check it over properly before anything goes to landfill.
How Freeze Drying Works on the Xiros Mikro
The Xiros Mikro runs programmable cycles of up to 16 steps, controlling temperature, vacuum and timing through each stage. Shelves are individually heated, so you can run a proper freeze, vacuum and slow sublimation cycle rather than just blasting everything with heat. It has both manual and automatic modes, run from a touchscreen interface, so you can set a cycle once a recipe is dialled in and leave it to run.
