1.2m Grow Tents

1.2m grow tents – 120 x 120cm – are the single most common tent size in UK grow rooms, and for good reason. The footprint matches what one proper fixture actually covers, it fits in a spare bedroom, and a 5in or 6in fan and filter is enough to control it.

Why 120 x 120 is the default size

• It matches one light. A 600W HPS or a 450-660W LED covers 1.2 x 1.2m almost exactly. Nothing is wasted at the edges and nothing is left dark.
• It is manageable. One fan, one filter, one light, one timer. No zoning, no balancing two fixtures against each other.
• Everyone builds one. Bud Box, Gorilla Box, HomeBox, Green-Qube, Secret Jardin and AC Infinity all make a 1.2m, so you have genuine choice on price and build.
• 4 to 6 plants. Comfortable with a normal veg, more if you train them.

2.0m or 2.2m tall?

Most 1.2m tents come in both. Once you subtract pot height, hanging distance and the fixture itself, a 2.0m tent leaves under a metre of usable canopy. Go 2.2m if you run HPS, use large pots, or veg for more than a few weeks – see tall grow tents.
