Veg+Bloom, VBX and DOS
All three are made by Hydroponic Research in San Diego, and they are not three versions of the same thing. Each is a complete base nutrient in its own right. Which one you want depends on how you feed rather than on what you are growing.
VEG+BLOOM
One-part powder. One bag from week one to the chop, with SHINE joining for late flower. Your water picks the bag: RO/Soft if you are on reverse osmosis or genuinely soft tap, Tap/Hard if you are on ordinary UK mains. Dirty is the same idea built for amended soil, which feeds the plant itself for the first few weeks.
Simplest thing in the range, and where most people start.
DOS
Two parts, A and B. Mixed up from powder into a stock concentrate and then injected, so it suits dosing pumps and big batch tanks rather than a watering can. That is why it turns up in commercial rooms more than in tents.
VBX
Concentrate powder, and the most concentrated of the three. VEG+BLOOM, STAX and Life+ in a single bag, running off its own sheet at its own rate. VBX CLEAN is the dripper-friendly version, worth having if you are on micro drippers and do not want anything settling out in the line.
The additives
SHINE is the bloom booster and runs across all three bases, not just VBX. BASIK pH Up and PHLO pH Down handle your pH. STAX is nutrient support for stem strength and vigour, and PUSH is the foliar spray.
Which one should I be on?
If you are hand-feeding a tent, Veg+Bloom is the straightforward answer and you will not outgrow it in a hurry. DOS starts to make sense once you are mixing big batches or running a dosing pump. VBX is for growers who want the fewest bags going into the tank and are happy working off a separate sheet to do it.
