Veg+Bloom

Veg+Bloom is one base powder the whole way through, with SHINE joining for late flower. This is the 2026 chart. The chart below is Veg+Bloom’s own schedule, with the target EC on every week. Underneath it, our free calculator fits it to your pot size, plant count and cycle length, and works out exactly how much you need to buy.

The Veg+Bloom feed chart

Grams per litre of water. Veg here is four weeks and flower nine, which is the commonest UK cycle. If yours is longer or shorter, the calculator fits the same schedule to it rather than simply running out.

Week Tap / Hard Base VBX SHINE Bloom Additive Target EC
Veg week 1 1.85 2.1
Veg week 2 1.85 2.1
Veg week 3 1.85 2.1
Veg week 4 1.85 2.1
Flower week 1 1.85 2.1
Flower week 2 1.85 2.1
Flower week 3 1.85 2.1
Flower week 4 1.58 0.40 2.25
Flower week 5 1.58 0.40 2.25
Flower week 6 1.58 0.40 2.25
Flower week 7 1.58 0.40 2.25
Flower week 8 0.79 0.53 1.5
Flower week 9 0.40 0.53 1.05

Target pH 5.8 to 6.3 in coco, 5.5 to 6.0 in rockwool. Flush 3 to 5 days in coco, 1 to 3 in rockwool.

RO/Soft and Tap/Hard are the same dose in a different bag

Hydroponic Research print the main schedule twice, once for RO/Soft and once for Tap/Hard, and the two rows are identical figure for figure. So your water picks which bag you buy and changes nothing else about how you feed.

That is worth stating plainly because it is not true of every brand — Dutch Pro, for instance, publish genuinely different schedules for hard and soft water. Here it really is just the bottle.

Mix to the EC, not to the millilitres

The doses above assume your water starts at zero. UK tap water usually sits between 0.3 and 0.5 EC before you add anything, and that counts towards the targets in the last column.

So on tap water you will reach the chart’s own EC with slightly less nutrient than it prints. Use the doses to get close and the meter to know. On RO, the printed figures are the ones to run.

What a full Veg+Bloom run costs

For a common UK setup, nine plants in 3 gallon Quick Fill coco bags, four weeks of veg and nine of flower, the whole cycle comes to about £149 across 2 products, mixing roughly 1,500 litres of feed.

The single biggest line on that bill is Veg+Bloom Tap / Hard Base at around £116. That is worth knowing before you order, because it is usually the additives rather than the base that decide what a run costs.

The calculator prices your actual grow rather than this example, and prices the other fifteen brands alongside it, so you can see what you are paying for.

Which Veg+Bloom line should I be on?

Veg+Bloom is the plain base and this chart. VBX is the all-in-one powder — VEG+BLOOM, STAX and Life+ in a single bag — and runs off its own separate sheet at a different rate. Dirty is the amended-soil base.

  • VBX Craft (all-in-one) — One powder for the whole run, with SHINE through late flower.
  • Veg+Bloom Dirty (soil) — For amended soil. Nothing for the first 20 days after transplant, because the soil is already feeding, then the same schedule as the main chart.

The calculator only ever lists the lines that suit the medium you pick, so you cannot accidentally run a soil chart in coco.
