Tent Kit Builder Parts

Everything you need to build your own grow tent setup component by component, rather than buying a pre-matched kit. Pick the tent, then work through light, extraction, circulation and control.

Build it in this order

1. Tent. Decided by your space and the light you intend to run – start at grow tents.
2. Light. Matched to the tent footprint, not to a wattage you liked the sound of. See grow room lights.
3. Extraction. Fan and carbon filter at the same diameter, sized to clear the heat the light makes. See extraction fans.
4. Ducting and clamps to join it all up, plus rope ratchets to hang it.
5. Circulation. One or two clip fans to keep air moving inside the canopy.
6. Control. A timer at minimum; a fan controller or full environment controller if you want it hands-off.

Sizing rules of thumb

• Fan and filter diameter should match – a 6in filter on a 5in fan chokes both.
• 4in suits tents up to about 100 x 100cm, 5in and 6in cover 120 x 120 to 150 x 150, 8in and up for anything above 2.4m.
• Buy the filter for the fan you have, not the tent you have. Airflow through carbon is what decides it.
• Leave headroom on the frame – light plus filter plus fan is commonly 30-50kg in a mid-size tent.

Build or buy a kit?
