Sponges or plugs?
Sponges hold more air and are very forgiving on watering. Dry plugs are cheaper per cutting and easier to store. Both work; sponges have the higher strike rate for beginners.
What temperature should a heat mat run at?
Aim for a medium temperature around 21-24C. Warmer than that dries the medium out faster than the cutting can drink.
