Perlite or vermiculite?
They are not interchangeable, and mixing them up is a common error. Perlite holds almost no water – what it adds is air, which is why 20-30% in soil or coco makes overwatering much harder. Vermiculite holds water and nutrient, so it does the opposite: it increases retention. For indoor growing in pots, perlite is what you want in the mix; vermiculite suits seed raising and situations where things dry out too fast.
