Gravity Fed Humidifier Refill Kit
Stop refilling your humidifier by hand. The 50 litre tank stands next to the tent, a 3 metre hose runs across to the humidifier, and gravity does the rest — the unit tops itself up as it runs. Fill the tank once and forget about it for a fortnight.
Which humidifier are you feeding?
- Sonic Air PRO — choose 50L Tank + 3m Hose. The Pro has a float valve built in, so it shuts itself off. Nothing else needed.
- Sonic Air 23L — choose 50L Tank + 3m Hose + Float Valve. The 23L has no float of its own, so it needs one adding.
- Already own a float valve? Then the plain Tank + Hose option is all you need.
Gravity does not know when to stop. Without a float valve the tank keeps feeding until the humidifier overflows across your floor — which is the whole reason the 23L needs one and the Pro does not.
What's in the kit
- AutoPot 50L FlexiTank with Tap — 35cm across, 53cm tall, with a tap at the base. Folds flat when you are not using it.
- 3m x 16mm Hose End Connector Kit — supplied pre-built with a quick-connect fitting on each end. Cut it shorter if you need less.
- Sonic Air 23L Float Valve — included on the + Float Valve option only.
Use RO or distilled water
Ultrasonic humidifiers atomise whatever is in the water, so tap water scales the discs and leaves white dust over everything in the tent. On the Sonic Air range it also voids the warranty. Fill the tank from an RO unit or with distilled water.
Setting it up
- Stand the tank higher than the humidifier's water inlet — on a shelf, a crate or an upturned pot. Gravity is the only thing moving the water, so it has to run downhill.
- Screw a hose-end connector onto the tank's tap, and the other onto the humidifier inlet or the float valve.
- Push the hose on at both ends, open the tap, and check for drips before you leave it.
The tank is not pressurised, so this is a five minute job with no tools. Note that a float valve needs a hose-end connector of its own, which is why this kit comes with two.
