Moonshine Bio Foliar Spray

Moonshine Bio is a foliar spray from Moonshine Global, made in the UK from molasses 5%, kelp 5% and oil seeds extract mixture 5% in demineralised water. It is the stronger of the two Moonshine foliar sprays. It comes as a ready to use 1L spray or as concentrate in 500ml, 1L and 5L bottles.

Add 25ml to 50ml of concentrate to 950ml of tepid or deionised water. At the 50ml rate a 500ml bottle mixes with 9.5L of water, a 1L bottle with 19L and a 5L bottle with 95L. At 25ml a bottle goes roughly twice as far.

Moonshine Global's directions are to spray until runoff occurs and repeat every 3 days until the desired effect is achieved.

We sell Moonshine Bio as a plant extract foliar spray and make no pest control claims for it. Moonshine Global describes it as a natural blend of plant extracts that contains no synthetics, and its own product page does not claim pest control. If you have an infestation, use a product approved for that pest.

Both are foliar sprays built on the same three actives. Bio carries 5% of each and is sprayed until runoff every 3 days. Sunshine carries 4% of each and is applied as a light mist in low light, repeated as required, and not on open flowers.

Moonshine Global does not give a time of day for Bio. Foliar sprays are usually applied when leaves are not under bright light or high heat: indoors with the lights off (Hygrozyme's advice), or outdoors in the cool of the morning or evening. CANNA suggests temperatures below about 27C (80F).

Moonshine Global describes Bio as biodegradable and not hazardous to human health or the environment. The label also says not for human consumption. Store it in a cool, dark place, out of reach of children.

We have not found published trials on Moonshine Bio itself. There is a research record on kelp extracts as a group. Reviews such as Khan et al. (2009) in the Journal of Plant Growth Regulation describe growth-promoting substances in seaweed extracts, and other reviews note that hormone content varies widely between extracts. The RHS adds that seaweed products are not true fertilisers, because their nutrient content is not guaranteed or standardised.
