Short version? The Aquaking High Pressure Submersible Water Pump is really five pumps sold under one name, from £64 for the Q2007 up to £198 for the 3 bar Q800103. Which one you want depends on how far the water has to climb, not how many plants you've got. For a small tent with the tank alongside, the Aquaking Q4003 at £69 will run FloraFlex drippers if you fit the right whip kit. Anything bigger wants the Q800103 and a regulator. Watering by hand? The Manual Watering Kit saves you £9.00 on the same bits bought separately.

Aquaking High Pressure Submersible Water Pump FAQs
Is the Aquaking High Pressure Submersible Water Pump any good?
Yes, if you buy the right one. They're fully submersible, well built and cheap for the amount of water they shift. The catch is pressure. Only the Q800103 gets FloraFlex drippers into their proper window, and that one's £198.
Aquaking Q800103 or Clarke PSD1A?
For a feed pump, the Aquaking Q800103. Both give you about 30m of head and the Clarke PSD1A is £68 cheaper at £130. But Clarke's own manual says theirs isn't for corrosive liquids, and it's oil filled. Keep the Clarke for tank transfers and clean-ups.
Which Aquaking pump do I need for FloraFlex drippers?
The Q4003 for a tent up to 1.5m x 1.5m with the reservoir alongside, using the no DNL whip kit and the Manual Flush Kit. Anything bigger, or the tank further away, wants the Q800103 and a Rain Bird regulator. The free FloraFlex Drip System Builder will size it from your room dimensions.
Will an Aquaking Q4003 open a DNL valve?
No. A DNL needs 0.8 bar to open and the Q4003 makes 0.78, so with one fitted no water reaches your ring at all. Get the whip kit without the DNL.
What fittings do I need for an Aquaking pump?
It depends on your pipe. 25mm goes straight over the included adaptor. 16mm needs the Aqua King coupling and FloraFlex 16/17mm needs the FloraFlex coupling. For those two you may need to chop off the barbed nozzle on the adaptor, which is how they're designed. The Q800103 has a 1 inch female thread, so a 1 inch to 3/4 inch nipple gets you a 3/4 inch male thread.
Do I need a pressure regulator with the Aquaking Q800103?
Yes, if it's feeding drippers. The pump pushes about 43 PSI and the emitters shouldn't sit above 40. The Rain Bird regulator is £27 and limits it to 40 PSI.
Can I run an Aquaking pump dry?
No. Run it dry and you could burn out the motor. Keep it under water whenever it's on.
Does the Aquaking pump come with a UK plug?
Near enough. All Aquaking pumps are supplied with a Euro to 3 pin UK adapter, so it'll plug straight in. Hang on to it.
What it does well
The Aquaking Q4003 is where most people should start. It's £5 more than the Q2007 and for that you get nearly double the flow plus an extra 3m of head. Hard to argue with a fiver.
And the top of the range does something the others can't. The Q800103 makes 3 bar, about 30m of head, which is enough to run a FloraFlex dripper system in its proper window once a regulator's on it. Nothing else here gets close.
- Fully submersible, so the pump just sits in your reservoir
- 25mm pipe goes straight on with nothing extra to buy
- The 16mm and FloraFlex couplings are £4.00 and £6.10, so the fittings won't sting
- Same pump family runs the Manual Watering Kit, if a 1L jug has had its day
Where it falls short
Good fit if you...
- run a tent up to 1.5m x 1.5m with the tank alongside
- need to move a lot of nutrient solution
- want a hose and lance instead of a jug
Look elsewhere if you...
- have a lot of drippers and want a commercial option: the DAB Esybox Mini 3
- want the pump to start itself when a valve opens: the Clarke CBP900
- only need a small fixed flow pump: the Newa Maxi range from £23
Then there's the price jump. The Q5503 is £85 and the next pump up is £198. Add the Rain Bird regulator and you're at £225 before you've bought a dripper.
Which version to buy
Flow climbs nicely through the range. Head doesn't. So work out what the pump has to do before you look at the litres.
| Pump | Price | Buy it for |
|---|---|---|
| Aquaking Q2007 | £64.00 | Moving feed on a budget, 3600 L/H |
| Aquaking Q4003 | £69.00 | Small tents with drippers and the tank alongside |
| Aquaking 50011 | £78.00 | 10000 L/H of flow. Head isn't on our listing, so ring us if height matters |
| Aquaking Q5503 | £85.00 | The most flow in the range, 11000 L/H |
| Aquaking Q800103 | £198.00 | Bigger rooms or a tank further away, with a regulator |
Prices as at November 2026.
Watering by hand? The kits come with a pump and we've added them up against buying the pump, the Manual Watering Kit No Pump at £33.00 and the matching AutoPot Flexitank separately.
| Kit | Price | Saving |
|---|---|---|
| Manual Watering Kit, no tank | £88.00 | £9.00 against a Q2007 and the No Pump kit |
| With 100L tank | £138.95 | £8.55, adding a 100L Flexitank at £50.50 |
| With 225L tank, 10m hose and 7000 L/H pump | £159.95 | £7.80 against a Q4003, the No Pump kit and a 225L Flexitank at £65.75, before counting the extra 5m of hose |
Prices as at November 2026.
How to use it
- Pick your pump by how far the water has to climb. Running drippers? The FloraFlex Drip System Builder will do the sums.
- Sort the outlet. 25mm pipe pops straight over the included adaptor. For 16mm use the Aqua King coupling (watch the video on how to fit it), and for FloraFlex 16/17mm use the FloraFlex coupling.
- For those two you may need to chop the barbed nozzle off the adaptor. Feels wrong. It's normal, they're designed that way.
- On the Q800103, screw a 1 inch to 3/4 inch nipple into the 1 inch female thread if you want a 3/4 inch male thread. Going into our whip kit? That one takes a 1 inch to 1 inch nipple.
- Feeding drippers from the Q800103? Fit the Rain Bird regulator before the water reaches the emitters.
- Test it in a bucket before you connect the lot to your system. Saves a wet floor.
- Sit the pump in the reservoir, make sure it's under water, then plug it in with the Euro to UK adapter.
Looking after it
There's not much to do, and only one hard rule. We don't list spare parts for these pumps, but the fittings below are all sold separately.
- Never run it dry. You could burn out the motor. Watch the level as the tank drops.
- Check the filter. The inline filter on the whip kit stops debris clogging your emitters. Mount the bowl vertically so it's easy to inspect and clean.
- Put a gauge on it. The FloraFlex Pressure Gauge reads 0 to 60 PSI, which beats guessing.
- Flush with the pump running. On the Manual Flush Kit, open the valve for ten to twenty seconds, then close it and leave it closed. Left open with the hose end below your water line, the tank siphons out.

| Aquaking Q800103 | About 30m | Not listed | £198.00 |
| Hailea L25 | 9.5m | 25000 L/H | £135.00 |
| Clarke PSD1A | 30m | 91 L/min | £130.00 |
| Clarke CBP900 | 32m, 3.2 bar | Not listed | £175.00 |
| DAB Esybox Mini 3 | Up to 55m | Up to 80 L/min | £495.00 |

The Hailea L25 shifts a mountain of water for the money, but 9.5m of head still leaves drippers short. And the Clarke PSD1A looks a bargain next to the Q800103 until you read its manual. Great for tank transfers. We wouldn't leave it sat in your feed.
