Description

Know your PPFD! The Apogee MQ610!

Comes as standard with the extension wand to attach the sensor, and also an option of a protective case (with foam lining).

The MQ610 is Apogee's newest, cutting-edge ePAR sensor created in 2021, as an upgrade to the MQ620. If you want to dial in your grows, the Apogee meter will optimise and maximise the potential of your lights. Forget about watts (the input), it is actually the output that should be measured - this is PPFD (photon synthetic flux density) is the true measure of light that plants need.

The ePFD sensor is designed to measure the newly defined 400 – 750 nm ePAR radiation range that research has shown to be photosynthetically active, beyond the traditional 400-700 nm range. PPFD (photon synthetic flux density) is the true measure of light that plants need.

Check out our article here for more info Apogee is led by Crop Physiology Professor (uber plant scientist), Bruce Bugbee (google him!). Apogee leads the field, set the standard, and create these instruments used by scientists the world over.

The MQ-610 quantum meter (AKA par meter) is the tool of choice for professionals and scientists all over the world. Accurately measuring photosynthetically active radiation (PAR) from all light sources. It has a hand-held meter, attached via cable, that displays and stores measurements.

The sensor incorporates a blue-enhanced silicon photodiode and custom optical filters with a rugged, self-cleaning sensor housing design, anodized aluminium body with an acrylic diffuser.

With this tool, you can accurately measure the PPFD over your plant canopy and ensure you hit that sweet spot of 600-900 PPFD (numbers based on current science literature). PPFD of 1000+ will require the use of supplemental CO2 in your grow room. The meter has a sample and log mode and will record an integrated daily total in mol m-2 d-1.

Sample mode will record up to 99 manual measurements. Log mode will power the meter on/off to make a measurement every 30 seconds. Every 30 minutes the meter will average the sixty 30 second measurements and record the averaged value to memory.

The meter can store up to 99 averages, once full it will start to overwrite the oldest measurement with new ones. A Daily Light Integral will be recorded from the 48 averaged measurements (making a 24 hr period). Sample and log measurements can be reviewed on the LCD display or by downloading the data to a computer, however, the integrated daily total can only be viewed by downloading the data to a computer.

Downloading data to a computer requires the AC-100 communication cable (a standard USB cable will not work) and ApogeeAMS software. NOT INCLUDED
